I like the look and weight of this Atomic Bear pen. I bought it to break car windows in case I drive into a lake or the Ocean but it can do more and has a small light.

My second Atomic Bear pen (I also have the Rebel). Great quality, better than the competition, and a very low price for what your getting. The flashlight is quite good, usually I don't expect much from flashlights that aren't from flashlight companies, but this one is very capable. A great design, all around. I wish I got the extras kit with the little knife, whistle, and ferro rod.

This product is so user-friendly and economical, that I ordered one for my wife and her friend. As many people have pointed out, the pen threads are different than the multitool end thus you cannot thread the pen cap onto the back while writing. Additionally, the multi-tool end should come with a cap that threads over the glass breaker so that it doesn't have a pointy end exposed. I tossed this thing into my backpack with my phone and it put a sizeable scratch into the phone screen. Not that I should have it loose with my phone, but a cap over the pointy end would be nice. The multitool threads out of the end but that piece doesn't seem to go anywhere useful.

I carry 1 in each of my jackets or front pocket as I have an issue with my eye that restricts my night vision or even looking at a dark object sitting on a piece of dark furniture. I carry this as it has a bright enough light to assist me.

Great functionality all round, and very happy with the pen. A couple of suggestions would be a cover or similar for the torch switch as when I leave it in my bag or pocket the light often gets switched on accidentally, and a Philips head screwdriver would be extremely useful.

Initial shipment water damaged. Once communicated to vendor, shipment was replaced showing great customer service. Product is good for the price. If pen cap fit on the pen body when removed to expose the writing point, it would be more effective.

I'm not big on EDC's, but as an ex knifemaker, I find myself carrying this pen everyday day around the house, why? I dunno, and definitely out and about on our daily walks around town, and in public places. I think it has the capability to be a vicious self defensive tool, without the legal problems of a knife defense.

Overall I do like this tactical pen. Writes well, has a great light, and is overall has a great quality. It came with a number of other attachments, i.e. whistle, flint rod, and small multi tool screwdriver, wrench, can opener attachment.
I do have a couple of things I would love to see updated on this pen. 1. add some kind of a screw off cap that can go over the glass breaker. Have the cap have some threads on it to attach some of the other smaller threaded accessories to it. Right now there is no way to use the flint with the knife, you literally need to use a separate blade in order to use the flint. Update the pen so you can use the knife with the flint 2. put some type of a safety switch on the light so when I have it in my pocket it doesn't come on. Every time I have this pen in my pants pocket or even my jacket pocket, the light comes on and wears down the battery.
I love the pen overall, just needs a couple of tweeks.

A good quality pen that clips onto my pants and pockets securely. It has a good weight to it without being too much. It is large, but personally I'm happy with the size and variability of it. Having the extras for it are fantastic, the knife comes in handy at work. the light isn't the best, but it does the job. I'm quite happy

I was joping the flashlight would have screwed out of the end like the milititool does. The s.w.a.t. pen has the end meant to be used as a antislip device. I think this us better in a defense situation.
I can see using the multitool version in a car. But as a daily carry im not a fan.

I've had this pen for a couple of years. I found that I don't carry it daily because of two reasons. 1: As I remarked in a previous review, the light can easily come on and wear down the batteries without my knowledge when I clip it to my front pants pocket. 2: The glassbreaker pokes me sometimes while just having the pen in my pocket.
Solution to one of my problems and one problem others had: Make a cap that covers the glassbreaker and allows the pen's writing cap to be attached to the pen while writing. So this would be a piece that has female threads that match the glassbreaker tip's threading and male threads that match the cap with the flashlight. I for one would pay a buck or two to make this pen work for myself better.

The tactical pen/light was a bit of a disappointment. There's no room made for even one of the three optional attachments. So, what do we do...walk around with the tac light in one pocket and the square foam with the three accessories in another pocket?

I rated it a three stars for these three reasons...
1) when you grip the pen as you go to write when using it as an actual pen, it's too slick. It needs more texture so that my fingers don't slide down the pen as easily.
2) I like how it has an LED light as that was one of the main reasons why I chose this pen, but when you press the button, sometimes you have to press it a couple times for it to get to where you want it to be. It does not always work on the first press, or even the first however many presses it takes. Especially if you press the button fast.
3) I don't like how you can't put the cap of the pen at the back end when you use it to write. It makes it to where you have to lay the cap down somewhere when you write or hold the cap in the other hand as you write. I can't imagine the engineering would be so difficult to widen the cap for it to slip over the back end.
Other than those three things, it does seem to feel as though it is good quality.

This pen is extremely functional. I have multiple Atomic Bear pens - each with a unique function. I like this pen because of the ability to carry around a small flashlight, multitool, and self defense device in a compact package. I keep mine in my car as I frequently drive in rural areas, and it is imperative to have emergency survival equipment accessible at all times.

The pen stopped working after a few times of writing. I just purchased the pen and I already had to switch it out with one of the refills. I also do not like the fact that I have to unscrew the cap to use the pen and then I can't screw the cap on the other side so I don't have to lay the cap down. The threads are there but they are a different size. This can lead to me forgetting or losing the cap to my pen.

MTP6 right idea needs some work
The pen is built very well. Just has some design flaws. The flag light button though small keeps getting turned to on when in pocket and in sitting position. The tacking self defense pointed end pokes you in the leg when in sitting position as well ( I think due to the whole device being a little to long. I also purchased the accessories again great idea but the pen on holds one of them in the shaft of the pen. So to truly use this pen the way they advertise it . You would have to keep a separate carting case of accessories in your pocket at all times as well. So like I said built strong just needs some design work.

Received my two pens in a timely manner. They appear sturdy. Everything was as advertised. They only enclosed one ink refill in one of the pens, when there is a slot for two refills. I’m sure that was a simple oversight.

Quality is good. Design, not so good. Lite switch has 3 positions..on, strobe,off. Have to cycle thru strobe to turn off. Can easily activate button if not careful. To use the pen you have unscrew from body and now you have two pieces. Would be nice to have them screw together. As a fixed unit, the glass breaker is showing....would be nice if the pen was showing and you unscrew the unit to use the glass breaker. I mean how often do you use a glass breaker. The flat blade screwdriver will only tighten screws. If you try to loosen a screw it will loosen the driver from the body of the tool. Good ideas but not well thought out.

Love the pen, but...
Hey guys. So I received this pen as a Christmas gift from my mother in law and I absolutely love it. Great tool for my job. My only issue is that I can't get the flashlight to work. I'd live to be able to utilize that feature to it's fullest potential. As UPS driver, I need a power light that's simple and efficient. This could be it if the light would just turn on.
Side note:
If the light worked right out of the box I would've given it a 5 star review.
